Army Commendation Medal for a Single Achievement

A single-achievement ARCOM recognizes one defined act or event whose impact was significant — a brigade-level exercise, a critical operational outcome, a problem solved with measurable Army-wide or formation-wide effect. The citation names the event and stays anchored to it.

Reserve this for achievement that genuinely exceeds AAM impact. The differentiator is scope and consequence, not adjectives.

Structuring the achievement block

Four bullets tied to the named event, each leading with a high-impact result: availability delivered across many nodes, single points of failure engineered out, teams led through continuous operations, reusable standards produced and adopted.

The achievement citation

Open with "For meritorious achievement while assigned as [duty position], [unit], during [event]," naming the event and dates. Close with the ARCOM achievement sentence, retaining the comma before the final "and," within six lines.

Submitting in IPPS-A

Submit via Buddy PAR Award Recommendation while the metrics are still verifiable; attach supporting documentation through the unit awards process as required locally.

Engineered a redundant transport solution that eliminated a single point of failure and prevented an estimated 14 hours of command-post downtime.
Led a 9-Soldier team through 24-hour operations with zero outages attributable to operator error.
Generated 6 reusable network configuration packages later adopted as the brigade standard.
