What is a 14P in the Army?

A 14P Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Crewmember is an enlisted Air Defense Artillery Soldier who operates short-range air defense (SHORAD) weapon systems such as the Avenger, M-SHORAD (Stryker), and Stinger MANPADS, detecting, identifying, and engaging low-altitude aircraft, cruise missiles, and unmanned aircraft to protect maneuver forces. 14P replaced the former MOS 14S effective October 1, 2016.

What makes a strong 14P NCOER?

Air and missile defense crewmember evaluations should reflect crew proficiency, engagement readiness, aircraft and UAS recognition accuracy, and the ability to defend the maneuver force from air threats. Strong 14P bullets name the SHORAD system employed (Avenger, M-SHORAD, or Stinger MANPADS) and reference gunnery table results, crew certification, alert posture, and readiness outcomes. Raters should cite specific exercises, named operations, and air defense readiness results.
